unity in the union \ 2011-onwards
The series speaks about the real emptiness of the contemporary urban space, as it has taken us even more away then we ever were from ourselves. It presents an emptiness of the matter, ever present, but never really there.
The urban is seen as unreal, a ground of possibility.
“unity in the union” confronts two worlds – the westernized urban (England, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Norway) and the central and easternized urban (Estonia, Czech Republic and Romania) – putting them altogether as a whole, as it is to be desired by the European Union. These worlds are similar, very much alike, two universes that find convergence.
Thus, I am stealing the common in its raw form that inspired the improbable to me, searching for elements either of an undescribeable bizarre, or of a sorrow dullness, and packing it, encapsulating it, documenting it, letting it be searched for (and eventually found) by those who choose to see beyond the material representation.
The series of works was originally named "and miracles happen...", after winning a bet with a friend. It was meant to be as a miracle of unity within the EU.
