grave love / 2013
Daily, the cemetery of Père Lachaise is flooded by your average tourist and hippies, that come in the hope of paying their respects to Jim Morrison, an American songwriter and poet, that happened to die in Paris. He was the leader of The Doors and died soon after moving in the French capital, in 1971.
Many shirts and souvenirs use either the face or the name of the artist. There are specially designed tours towards his grave.
Did he ever hope to become a sort of Eiffel tower, Dôme des Invalides, or Arc de triomphe de l'Étoile? Jim Morrison is now a "must see" of Paris.
There are many known writers and artists that are buried at Père Lachaise. To name only a few: Edith Piaf, Molière, Oscar Wilde, Chopin, La Fontaine, Modigliani. But they are not that popular. Actually, Jim Morrison's grave is the only one that is protected with bicycle barricades.
