brands dot RO \ 2010
“brands dot RO” reflects what Romania considers as the most important cultural assets to visiting outsiders. All of the photos are taken near Peles Castle (one of the most important buildings in Romania – the summer residence of the former monarchs), in a small fair opened only during tourist seasons.
The products over there present to outsiders what we view that would interest them most - Bran Castle, Peles Castle, Palace of Parliament (People’s Palace) and, most importantly, Dracula. The cheapness of the subject, devoured by ages and its own past, related to the low quality Chinese plastic, makes our country look as if it had teleported itself into a bad version of a consumeristic universe.
The whole mood invites tourists into the prefabricated division of one of China’s factories, where they can grab a deformed, rotten piece of Romania’s last century.
