“The mattress” transmutes the continuation of the pre ’89 hierarchies in the post ’89 era. It is inspired by true events that occurred in the apartment block of the author, when a homeless managed to occupy the hallway of a building because an old and crippled ex-Securitate member needed someone to take care of him. Haunted by a succubus and lured by other attractive sirens, the poor man has to find his way from the gates to the General’s door, along a staircase crammed with obstacles.
